Liza is a Vancouver based artist, writer, and gallery administrator.  Her paintings have been exhibited throughout western Canada including the Art Gallery of Calgary, the Triangle Gallery of Visual Art, the Illingworth Kerr Gallery, and the historic Hycroft Mansion in Vancouver.  Her painting, Doppelganger, was a recent finalist for the 2015 Salt Spring National Art Prize.

Liza holds a BFA in Drawing from the Alberta College of Art + Design, and a BA in Art History from the University of British Columbia.  Her curatorial work has been reviewed in Border Crossings Magazine and her critical writing on arts and culture has been featured on the Satellite Gallery blog.

Liza’s mixed media paintings explore issues of gender identity and performance, and address the language and history of painting along with its mechanisms of representation.  Her most recent series, Rituals, explores the relationship between the body, identity, and material accumulation.
